As a child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Zhou first seeks to understand your life journey through a comprehensive evaluation. You will receive a report of diagnostic impression as well as through a biopsychosocial lens. The report will also detail various treatments that might be helpful, including medications, therapy, other interventions that may fall under comprehensive care (nutrition, supplements, exercise, etc). Dr. Zhou's treatment philosophy is to employ all measures that are likely helpful in hopes of achieving significant and meaningful improvement within 3-6 months.
Dr. Zhou completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, Davis where he received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He then worked as a researcher in biological research and development in the pharmaceutical industry for two years where he specialized in assessing the biological activity of small molecule antagonists to chemokine receptors.

Dr. Zhou attended medical school at the University of Toledo School of Medicine where he received his MD degree. During medical school, Dr. Zhou focused on strengthening community resources through various organizations including the Asian Resource Center which provided free health screenings and translational services, the Community Cares Clinic which provided free general health care to the underserved community, and helped host a major annual conference through the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association which invited multiple distinguished practitioners of complementary medicine to educate the public of their various practices including acupuncture and Tai Chi among others.

Following medical school, Dr. Zhou completed general psychiatry residency training at the UCLA-Olive View program where he received extensive training in pharmacotherapy and practice in intensive treatment settings including emergency, consult, and inpatient psychiatry.

Dr. Zhou went on to complete his fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Harbor-UCLA where he also served as a Chief Fellow during his second year. Dr. Zhou is interested in taking a holistic approach to treatment including use of coaching techniques, building resilience, and maximizing environmental adjustments to help improve quality of life.
